With a range of artworks that includes paintings, installations, and digital animation, ‘Time Capsule’ highlights the unique perspectives and creative processes of each individual artist as they navigate the changing times brought by the pandemic. By selecting new artworks created in 2020 – 2021, the group exhibition responds to the issue of time, particularly how the pandemic and current turns of events have affected the artists’ practice and creative explorations.

The relationship between art and time highlighted as the theme of ‘Time Capsule’ parallels Jakarta Biennale 2021’s theme, ‘Esok’ (Tomorrow), in which both projects anticipate a better tomorrow with hope and good faith.
