Sela Exhibition
18 June - 18 July 2025 at Sangkring Art Space
In this exhibition program, Can's Gallery collaborates with Sangkring Art Space as the venue. The exhibition features works from 22 artists, namely: Ahadi Bintang, Alphabad, Begok Oner, Dwiky KA, Emkaespe, Emte, Iwan Suastika, KemasAcil, Lala Bohang, Liunic, Muklay, Naufal Abshar, Oky Rey Montha, Paskalis Kunang, Recycle Experience, Risangdaru, Tempa, Ummi Damas, Varsam Kurnia, Wira Liandy, Wulang Sunu, and Ykha Amelz. In this exhibition, each artist presents activities they do in their leisure time. This is interesting because, despite having roughly similar routines—namely, creating works with their respective approaches—almost all agree that the creative process is no longer done in their spare time but has become part of their main daily life. Activities that are often considered trivial, undocumented, and stored in a separate space from the studio can actually be a refreshing oasis, even sparking ideas in their creative process. The SELA exhibition becomes a space for these stories—about how hobbies, as an extension of life, permeate and infiltrate the work. The artists not only display works born from reflections on their hobbies but also open up the possibility of dialogue: that the creative process does not always grow from the studio but can be rooted in any place and experience.
